Golf Tournament 2023

2023 ABGC Golf Tournament

AKWESASNE -- The Akwesasne Boys and Girls Club (ABGC) was pleased to resume its charity golf tournament at the Cedar View Golf Course on Saturday, September 23, 2023. The golf tournament was held each year until 2017, so event organizers were delighted to revive this annual fundraiser event. It raised $60,981 that will directly benefit Akwesasne’s club kids.

“We were fortunate to have beautiful weather for this beautiful event, and equally important to have so many sponsors and volunteers willing to help support the Boys & Girls Club,” stated ABGC Executive Director Jessica Jock. Jock also noted, “We had many local artisans contribute towards our online auction and a full roster of golf teams that made the event even more enjoyable. I particularly want to recognize and give my appreciation to Chessie White for all her hard work coordinating the entire event.”

The funds raised from this year’s golf tournament will be used to help build a new clubhouse. To help, the event provided numerous opportunities for businesses and individuals to provide support. The tournament generated revenue from sponsorships, team registrations, sale of mulligans, 50/50 ticket sales, and an online auction that ran for one week.

The Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club extends immense appreciation to Renzi Food Service for providing lunch and to Midnight Confetti for decorations, as well as the following list sponsors:

Platinum Sponsor: Twinleaf Stores (CAA Management) Akwesasne Housing Authority, CKON 97.3fm, Bears Den Charitable Foundation, Akwesasne Convenience Store Association, and Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe.

Gold Sponsor: Key Bank, Murnane, Honest Engine Films, and Delaware Engineering

Silver Sponsor: Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort, Herne Law, Johnson/Smith Lumber, Native Trading, and Perras Excavating.

Hole Sponsors: Energy Brothers, Holland and Knight, Bicknell Corp., Beardsley, Mohawk Journeys, Barton and Loguidice, J&J Insurance, Luck Brothers, S&S Sanitation, 37 West, Thomas Nothhardt Realty, Truckstop #9, #9 Propane, Gray’s ATM, Mohawk Networks, Tisdale Engineering, American Legion Post 1479 veterans, Water Services, Thompson Marine, and Precision Hardscapes.

The Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club is the only Native American club within the Boys & Girls Club of America that is located in New York State. It serves more than 700 youth each year however, its current location lacks sufficient space and basic amenities to help more children.

The Club is seeking to better serve Akwesasne youth with construction of a 18,900-square foot building; which will entail classrooms, kitchen, offices, teen suite, and a large multi-purpose room for functions and activities. It will be built on a three-acre parcel of land donated by the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe located along Margaret Terrance Memorial Way.

The ABGC has succeeded in raising nearly $6 Million for construction of a new clubhouse; which includes a $3 Million contribution from the Tribe and approximately $2.4 Million from the club’s own fundraising efforts. To help raise the remaining funds, naming opportunities are still available for champions to join efforts to improve the lives of all Akwesasne youth.
