Our Capital Campaign Project
OUR CLUB KIDS NEED YOUR HELP! The only Native American Boys & Girls Club in
New York State, we serve over 700 Mohawk youth annually. The Club has been
operating at capacity for over five years. At this stage, we cannot reach all the youth we
need to serve on a daily basis at our current facility, which is lacking in space and basic
amenities. Since our building is stick built architects have told us a new building is our
only solution.

AKWESASNE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB
Capital Campaign 2018-2022
Building the Heart of our Community
PHASE 1/ COMPLETED DONATION

A new building would…
  • Increase average daily attendance from 98 children to 300 children.
  • Expand our teen space from 300 to 2,000 sq. feet (430% increase), doubling the average daily attendance of teens and increasing capacity.
  • Add a much needed gym space, enabling us to accommodate 3-times as many sports activities and provide additional space for outside activities.
  • Add more classrooms to double our academic programs from 4 classrooms to 8.
  • Add a much-needed art studio.
  • Add a 120-seat multipurpose theater with a stage for productions.
  • Add a secure bus loading area and adequate parking section.
When we first envisioned building a new ABGC facility, we knew we had to include the youth we serve in the planning process.  The kids were excited to contribute and immediately suggested that a new, larger “green” building was high on their priority list. The ABGC Board responded with the formation of our Building Committee, who have successfully:

•Secured the donation of three acres of land from the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe.
•Obtained designs for a 24,000 square foot building costing an estimated $8
  Million.
•Identified and applied for Federal and State grants to help fund the project.
•Identified supporting partners: St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, Mohawk Council of
Akwesasne, Akwesasne Housing Authority, & local businesses, private investors
  in NYC and Stowe, VT.
