Our Capitial Project

The need for great futures is more important than ever and the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club is here to respond.

The Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club has been enabling our members to grow from fun-loving, eager-to-learn children into productive, caring, responsible citizens since 2001. From the very beginning, we've been working to provide youth of all economic backgrounds a safe place to learn and grow. Today, the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club touches the lives of nearly 600 children annually.
Our programs and activities are purposeful, coordinated and designed to advance children’s' academic success, character and healthy lifestyles. Members form ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals while interacting and having fun with friends their own age. Most importantly, being part of the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club provides children hope and opportunity.

The facility where the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club is currently housed was built as a warehouse in the 1960’s and was renovated in 2000, to house the Club. The space is inadequate for use as a youth facility and often times the area is cramped and either too warm or too cold. Structural issues also continue to be dealt with. Being out of compliance with the NYS Afterschool Child Care means we cannot apply for needed funding to expand program to our youth.

The Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club Board of Directors has launched a capital campaign to raise funds to replace our outdated, inadequate location with a safer, modern facility, LEED building that will serve the children of our community for years to come.

* At approximately 24,000 square feet, the new facility will double the current space
* The number of members comfortably served will increase from 125 to 300 daily; the number of lives touched indirectly is exponential
* Program offerings will increase in quantity and quality, with the addition of physical space and expanded staff

The campaign, officially launched in 2015, seeks to raise $7 million in charitable contributions. Gifts to the campaign will be received in the form of cash, appreciated securities and assets that can be readily converted to cash. Gifts may be pledged and given over a pledge period and on a timetable convenient to the donor. Various naming and memorial gift opportunities are also available.

After an extensive feasibility study showed that a plan to build a new facility was within reach, our Board of Directors has selected leaders from our community who believe strongly in our fundraising efforts. Julia Back- Skidders, Board President; Dale White, Capital Campaign Chair; Brendan White, Vice President; Micaelee Horn, Secretary; Theresa Cole, Treasures and PJ Herne, Voting; PJ Burns, Voting; Robert White, Voting.

The Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club's Capital Funds Campaign is now in full motion and we are receiving a great response from area leaders. But there is still work to do! You can be a part of this wonderful success story and create a legacy for you, your family or your business that will last for generations.
